Week 20

HALFWAY THERE!

How far along? 20 Weeks, size is between a mango and a banana! Growing more each day!

Total weight gain/loss: Will find out at my next appointment.

Maternity clothes? Not really, still living in leggings and long shirts/sweaters (perfect season)

Stretch marks? Nope! Still using lots of oils, can’t live without them! Interested in what I use? Check them out here.

Sleep: So-so, however I did get some much needed full night’s sleep last night!

Best moment this week: Feeling her moving around! Such a cool moment when you can finally tell the difference between the baby move and “thinking” the baby is moving. She is still small so the movements can only be felt by me, but still very awesome!

Have you told family and friends: Yes!

Miss Anything? Nah!
J

Movement: She’s an active little one!

Food cravings: Chocolate…so my hubby surprised me with fudge popsicles, SCORE!!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nada.

Have you started to show yet: Oh yes!

Workouts: Sweating successfully for TWO! hehehe

Labor Signs: No.

Belly Button in or out? In .

Wedding rings on or off? On, actually very big.

Happy or Moody most of the time: This week… wow! Someone should have placed me in time out… MRS.GRUMPY GILLS should have been my name!

Looking forward to: Our vacation this week!  Bring on the TROPICAL weather and fruits! All while rocking a bikini, yes I said that... I will be bringing my two piece swimsuit to rock! NO SHAME HERE!

In other news this week…

We FINALLY decided on her name (however you’ll have to wait a week or two for the name release) AHH! Trust me I am so excited to announce it. Also I began my nursery inspiration board, which I will be posting about soon! SO MANY FUN THINGS HAPPENING!

My Favorite : Skin Care Products

As an esthetician and someone who has always had sensitivity to products, I've always been very particular, well now that I am pregnant I've become extra cautious and even more particular with my skin care products (which I didn't think was possible).

WHY am I so cautious and particular? I wont go all science weenie on you but to say it briefly..
Our skin is our largest organ of the body and ABSORBS everything we put on it more than surface deep. (Hmmm... makes ya think, right?!)

MY FAVORITE Skin Care Products :

1. Sweet Almond Oil/ Jojoba Oil - I use these two products purely as BODY moisturizers. They are great for helping "prevent" or as I like to say reduce the chances of  stretch marks all while leaving your skin smooth and soft. Other oils that are great for use to help with DRY/ITCHY skin are : Olive oil, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Avocado Oil. Be sure to apply these oils daily to the following areas breasts, abdomen, thighs and butt as these are the areas prone to dry skin and stretch marks. I do NOT use these oils on my face, with the exception of coconut oil.

2. Coconut Oil - BEST STUFF EVER! Seriously, it is! I use it as my makeup remover, mainly eye makeup (WORKS WONDERS, even on waterproof makeup) and I also use to it as my face moisturizer!

To use as makeup remover : scoop a pea sized amount from jar into your hand and let melt, apply gently to one eye at a time, remove excess with a towel or cloth immediately.

To use as a FACE moisturizer : scoop a nickel sized amount into your hand, let melt, apply to dry areas or all over the face... if your face feels overly oily be sure to wipe off residue.

The benefits of coconut oil are endless but I thought I would share this awesome visual to spark your interest.

3. YesToBlueberries -  I've used/tired A LOT of organic/natural lines that promise results that they just don't live up too... However this skin care line absolutely does! Plus it can be bought in targets and other stores now which makes it convenient and to top it off they are affordable. YesTo... has several different lines that are targeted towards every skin type WHICH ROCKS in my opinion!  I personally use the YesToBlueberries line... from the body wash to the shampoo & conditioner and everything in between because these products aren't just kick ass in every way they are parben free and 98-99% all natural! What could be better! Don't believe it, go check it out yourself... just click the link above :)

Questions: Feel free to Contact me :)

Cruise Swimsuit from Target

I posted this on my facebook public page this week:

When I decided to get healthy and fit 2 years ago, I knew that one day I would become a mom and I knew I wanted to be their role model and teach them by leading by example (what mom doesn’t feel that way ?) Which is why I am so thankful I b...egan my healthy and fit journey before I became pregnant, its truly helped me so much because I truly don’t feel I would have been able to lead by example if I wouldn’t have learned everything prior to my pregnancy… I am truly fascinated with how the body reacts and what it is capable of with healthy nutrition, exercising, and now during pregnancy.
I took these photos today at 19 weeks pregnant, in the swimsuit that I will be wearing on our cruise that we are going on in 10 days. To be completely honest I wasn’t going to post them because like most people I could point out what things I need to work on rather than seeing the positive however I decided because I am always completely honest with you all I want to share my entire journey and process with you. So here is the truth: At first I was feeling not so proud of how I looked BUT then I remembered “BE NICE and FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE” (something I told myself when I first became pregnant) so that’s what I did…. Ready here is what I came up with…. 1. I am growing a baby human (HOW COOL IS THAT?) 2. Check out the quad definition, AHH YAY! 3. I feel beautiful 4. I am looking my lean, strong arms. 5. I proud of how well I’ve been eating and sticking to my workouts (not pictured).
Everyone has days where they don’t feel awesome but just remember focus on the positive and suddenly you’ll see you are awesome and doing amazing things so stick to your plan and what works for you!!

Gender Reveal

Friday January 10th, 2014 was the big day! The day we found out if we were having a girl or a boy.

I did a poll through my facebook and instagram to see what everyone's predictions were BOY OR GIRL?

I must say PINK won by just a few votes :) Very close!

Gender Reveal Story :

I was so excited that Andrew was able to make it to the appointment because we both had thought he wasn't going to be able to, so I was pleasantly surprised to see his face walking through the door as they called me in...

The appointment was very important to me not just to reveal the gender but I wanted to see the little one... GROWING, MOVING, and being HEALTHY! Baby Smith was ALL of those things... growing very well, moving like CRAZY, and healthy as could be... I was a very happy momma to be! However Baby Smith was also very stubborn or not cooperating very well for the ultrasound tech... I felt so bad, but after patiently waiting we were able to hear what we were having...

A BABY GIRL!!

My husband and I couldn't be happier about having a little girl on the way to join our little family :) Seeing Andrew's smile and excitement when we found out was probably the coolest, most heartwarming moment to date :)  I am pretty confident from that moment... she had him wrapped tight around her little finger.

Our little girl, without a doubt is already loved beyond her wildest dreams and spoiled too!

I'll be sharing more gender reveal photos to share soon :) A special thank you to our friends Megan and Stephen for helping us with our photos.

Week 18

What’s your guess? Boy or Girl?

Andrew and I don’t have a gender preference as long as the baby is a healthy.

Doctor updates and testing: Everything is still in the works and up in the air! I should have more news next week about what caused the fainting.

How far along? 18 Weeks, The baby is the size of a sweet potato, hehehe!

Total weight gain/loss: Unsure, should find out tomorrow at my appointment.

Maternity clothes? Yes and no… I am still able to wear most of my clothes but I do have maternity pieces.

Stretch marks? Nope! But since my skin is super dry lately due to the cold weather I am using EXTRA lotion.. must keep the skin moist!

Sleep: My sleep pattern started to change a bit this week... but sleep is still good! I am enjoying it while it lasts.

Best moment this week: Will be tomorrow when I can finally see my little baby again and find out what we are having!! AHH!! SO EXCITED!!

Have you told family and friends: Yes!

Miss Anything? I MISS DRIVING! I haven’t drove my car in 9 days, I am ready to be released from the doctor to drive again.

Movement: Yes, it’s very light but the baby is super active!

Food cravings: No I haven’t had many cravings lately.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Everything is almost back to normal except the fact I really hate red meat, doesn’t make me sick or queasy just can’t stand to eat it. However I have extreme heartburn from almost everything I eat, so I am just careful not to eat things high in acidity.

Have you started to show yet: Yes, I am loving my little baby bump! However at moment I am very self-conscious.

Workouts: I’ve been doing at home workouts lately lifting and cardio. It feels so amazing to sweat. It’s important to remember while its ok to work out during pregnancy make sure you listen and ask your doctor for the ok before starting new workouts or if you change things.

Gender prediction: FIND OUT TOMORROW!!!

Labor Signs: No.

Belly Button in or out? In.

Week 17

Kisses for the baby :) Who was your first kiss on new years?

Goodbye 2013 & Welcome 2014

My new years eve, did not turn out how I planned… The morning of December 31st I woke up normally and began my normal morning routine until it suddenly I woke up on my bathroom floor after fainting… thank goodness my husband was home and able to drive me to the ER after arriving and getting checked out they decided to transfer me by ambulance to another hospital 45 minutes away for further testing due to having a migraine and weakness in my entire left side. Again my awesome husband being so sweet and supportive followed the ambulance and even stopped to pick me up food (which I wasn’t allowed doctor’s orders, insert angry face) and comfy clothes since I was dressed for work when we went into the hospital. After spending 6 more hours there and going through testing the doctors decided that I would need to spend the night for observation… so my husband and I brought in the new year of 2014 in the hospital but we were together which is what mattered.

After 2 days in the hospital and numerous tests, the doctors have not been able to yet tell me exactly happened (and honestly they may never be able too.) I still have a few more tests to do and unfortunately I am not able to drive or work until I am released from the doctors after these tests are completed.

Needless to say this whole experience is very overwhelming and I am just being thankful that so far, my tests are coming back normal, and that baby and I are HEALTHY!!!

How far along? 17 weeks, the baby is the size of an onion.

Total weight gain/loss: No weight gain or loss. Staying steady at 14lb weight loss.

Maternity clothes? I’ve been wearing some but I honestly can still get away with wearing my regular jeans, leggings, shirts (as long as they have give), workout clothes, and pjs… my belly just sticks out a bit J

Stretch marks? Nope!

Sleep: Sleeping is good.

Best moment this week: Finding out the baby was healthy after my fainting spell.

Have you told family and friends: Yes!

Miss Anything? Honestly I can’t say I miss anything this week, I just feel blessed this week.

Movement: I think so… but I feel like I need to see the little one moving on my next ultrasound to be sure its what I think it is.

Food cravings: Nope, not this week.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope! It seems like everything is starting to subside
J HAPPY DANCE!!

Have you started to show yet: Yes, I am loving my little baby bump!

Gender prediction: We find out in 1 week, I can barely contain my excitement!!!
